Hanging in Mr. Morgan’s Neighborhood

What can you learn from a spin through your great-great grandparents’ hometown, and a stop in the local historical society museum? Plenty.

In this case, even though Thomas Morgan’s namesake hotel hasn’t stood on the corner of Chartiers and Main streets for 50 or more years, there just happened to be a scale model of old Carnegie right in that museum, affording us a side-by-side look at the old hotel (from newspaper clippings we’d dug up years ago), the model block, and today’s site, where the friendly folks at PNC Bank were only too happy to make change for the parking meter.

Let’s take a walk, shall we, through Mr. Morgan’s neighborhood.
